Let's talk about storytelling.
I'm a content strategist, designer, art director, writer, and project manager. In the world of marketing and advertising, I tend to involve myself in as many creative roles as I can get my arms around. I like the variety. I like the challenge of learning new tools and acquiring new skills.
But at the heart of it all lies something simpler: a particular interest in telling stories. What drives me is the synthesis of ideas, words and visuals and how they come together to form creative work with depth, narrative, and influence. The rest is just a means to get there.
At its most basic, my work lies in understanding niche audiences—their motivators and tendencies—and creating stories that engage them. I do that in two entirely unrelated but similarly specialized marketing fringes: architecture and higher education.
As content director at Stoner Bunting Advertising, a full-service B2B agency specializing in architectural products and building materials, I execute and oversee all corners of creative strategy. Short-form and long-form storytelling. Content marketing and social media campaigns. Legacy and digital brand design. UX and UI. Storyboarding and video direction. Music composition and more. The goal of it all? Attract and grow audiences of architects, designers, and contractors for leading building product brands.
As founding partner and creative director at Dog Ear Consultants, a small firm that improves alumni communications for colleges and universities, my primary focus is increasing alumni engagement through storytelling strategies and design techniques in every schools' flagship engagement piece: the alumni magazine. I've worked with small, top-tier private institutions and state universities with global alumni networks. Each school has its own unique voice, its own story to share. It's our job to help find them and make new connections with each institution's  constituents.
Both career paths continue to afford me the good fortune of work that's both a joy and a challenge with smart clients and clever creatives. Around every turn is a new, rewarding pursuit, a new story to tell.
When I'm not telling stories, I can be found playing music, playing soccer, hiking, traveling, enjoying a good beer, and generally nerding out on typography.
